Writing Journal to Improve Past Tense Usage in English (As a Second Language)

This action research came to light with the primary focus improve, particularly, usage of past tense among grade X students Gelephu Middle Secondary School, Bhutan. The was on finding out usefulness JW (journal writing) understanding and learning PT (past tense) in English Language. both modes communication (verbal written) is crucial, its incompetency has always been a hindrance. In total, samples 19 were studied from same pre-test, followed by intervention measures, juxtaposition post-test after intervention. Intervention measures period lasted for six weeks; weekly classes 20 minutes (simple past, progressive, perfect, perfect progressive). difference between writings conducted before it, standing; learners’ performance better than expected (the all types improved). Along improvement errors other constituents surfaced; spelling subject - verb agreement. Keywords: Journal writing, tense, simple expression.
